- Information about the department
Prosthodontics is the area of dentistry that treats patients with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues to obtain optimal oral health, function and esthetics with the use of biocompatible substitutes, dental implants, dentures, veneer crowns and bridges.
Dental education in the Department of Prosthodontics is given both theoretically andpractically for 5 years . Hence, after the first three years of preclinical education, students experience clinical practice for two years.
Our mission is to provide the patients with high quality service through our private practice, postdoctoral student program and predoctoral student program, to teach the predoctoral students the basic principles, concepts and practices of prosthdontics required for the diagnosis and treatment of patients, to train specialists in prosthodontics who are skilled clinicians with a strong research background, continued development of knowledge in prosthodontics through basic and clinical researches and to incorporate cutting edge technology into our patient treatment and curriculum.
Our vision is to benefit from contemporary technological developments and to be a leader in scientific research and to determine the standards of education of dental professionals and patient care.

- Residency and PhD Education
The prosthodontics residency program is designed to provide postgraduate students with advanced training in prosthodontics and upon its successful completion, students are eligible for the speciality Board of Prosthodontics. For residency programme, postgraduate students have to pass Residency Examination for Dentistry (DUS). Postgraduate education in Prosthodontics covers three years. Clinical seminars and planned reading seminars are the parts of the educational experience. Postgraduate residency programs are compromised of 6 midterms. First 3 midterms consist of postgraduate academic programs and the latter 3 midterms are used for thesis preparation.
Department of Prosthodontics provides post graduate education in Bülent Ecevit University Institute of Health Sciences in association with Gazi University Institute of Health Sciences and these two universities are due to provide joint doctoral program. Postgraduate doctoral programs are compromised of 8 midterms. First 4 midterms consist of postgraduate academic programs and the latter 4 midterms are for thesis preparation.
Extensive training and experience provide prosthodontists with a special understanding of the dynamics of a smile, the preservation of a healthy mouth and the creation of tooth replacements. Serving as the architect of a dental treatment plan, a prosthodontist collaborates with general dentists, specialists and other health professionals to develop solutions to dental and oral health concerns.
