Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Dentistry, under the mentorship of academic advisor faculty member Dr. Melek BELEVCİKLİ, added a new one to its social responsibility activities aimed at increasing public oral and dental health awareness. Faculty students came together with students at Esenköy 15 Temmuz Primary School with the “Tiny Teeth, Big Smiles” project they carried out within the scope of the Social Responsibility Project of Dentistry Students at Universities (ÜNİDES).
Interactive presentations were made to primary school students about the importance of oral and dental health, correct tooth brushing techniques and healthy eating habits. In the event that attracted the attention of the students, awareness activities were carried out with educational materials and visuals. At the end of the event, care kits consisting of toothbrushes, toothpaste and informative brochures were presented to the students.
The project managers who made a statement about the event, drew attention to the lifelong sustainability of correct oral and dental health habits acquired in childhood and emphasized that such studies are of great importance in terms of both social contribution and the professional development of the students.
Community members and faculty students expressed their gratitude to all stakeholders who supported the project and to the management of Esenköy 15 Temmuz Primary School for their hospitality.
